SEMH interventions and support

Some pupils need emotional, social, or communication support before they can access academic learning. This AP pathway uses structured, evidence‑based interventions delivered with warmth, relational safety, and trauma‑informed practice.
We can deliver 1:1 or small group sessions depending on needs and abilities. This includes:
-
Delivered in school
-
2‑hour sessions (10–12 or 1–3)
-
Can be blended with Forest School AP
-
Brief summary of the session after each session

What sessions may look like
Sessions will be semi structured - ie we will plan and have a topic in mind with outcomes and learning goals that will be discussed with school prior to sessions starting. If a child has different needs on that day, then we can change direction quickly to meet the needs of the child.
Interventions may include:
-
LEGO®‑Based Therapy - Develops communication, turn‑taking, problem‑solving, and social interaction.
-
Talkabout - Supports emotional literacy, self‑esteem, friendship skills, and social understanding.
-
Emotional Literacy & Regulation Work - Helps pupils understand emotions, build strategies, and develop confidence.
-
Social Communication Support - Builds interaction skills, confidence, and understanding of others.
These can be run as 1:1 or a small group of upto 4, depending on needs and the intervention. For more information of for a discussion on how this could work, please contact Jo.
