Hello

I’m Jo, founder of Neurosense. I’m an educator, psychologist, and advocate with lived experience of ADHD, dedicated to creating environments where every child can thrive. I hold a Master’s in Psychology, alongside QTS, a PGCE, and a BSc in Science, and I’ve built my career around supporting children with special educational needs, those at risk of exclusion, and those who have experienced exclusion.
My professional background spans mainstream, alternative, and specialist settings. I’ve taught science, supported reintegration pathways, and worked closely with schools to develop inclusive, trauma‑informed practice. I currently work in inclusion, collaborating with schools and professionals to improve outcomes for neurodivergent children and young people. I also support parents in the settings my son attends, helping them navigate advocacy, communication, and the process of securing support. Alongside this, I continue to teach swimming — a role that keeps me connected to the joy of child development, confidence‑building, and sensory‑aware teaching.
Neurosense grew from a blend of professional expertise and lived experience. I have ADHD, my son is autistic and ADHD, and many of my family are ADHD, Autistic, dyslexic, OCD - the list goes on! These perspectives shape my approach: compassionate, evidence‑based, and deeply respectful of neurodivergent identity and experience. They remind me daily that behaviour is communication, that safety comes before learning, and that every child deserves to be understood on their own terms.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me exploring the local countryside with my son and our dog, Luna — recharging, noticing the small things, and finding inspiration in the everyday.
Neurosense is my way of bringing together psychology, education, and advocacy to support children, families, and schools with insight, empathy, and practical strategies that make a real difference.
